স্মরণশক্তি বৃদ্ধির উপায়

ভুলে যাওয়াই যেন আমাদের সহজাত প্রবৃত্তি। তবে রয়েছে স্মরণশক্তি বৃদ্ধির উপায় এবং সেই সাথে মনে রাখার কৌশল বা সহজ উপায়। অনেক কিছুই মনে রাখতে পারি না। মনে রাখার ক্ষমতা বা স্মরণশক্তি এক একজনের এক এক রকম। মানুষের মস্তিষ্কের ১৪ বিলিয়ন স্নায়ুকোষ একে অপরের সাথে সংযুক্ত হয়ে একটা ইলেকট্রো কেমিক্যাল চক্র তৈরি করে, একে এনগ্রাম বলে। প্রতিটা এনগ্রাম এর পথই হলো স্মরণশক্তি। জেনেটিক বিজ্ঞানীরা বলেন, পিতামাতার স্মরণশক্তি বা মেধাশক্তি বেশি থাকলে সন্তানরাও সে রকম হয়। এজন্য স্মরণশক্তির বংশগতির বৈশিষ্ট্যের একক জিনের ওপর শতকরা ৬০ ভাগ নির্ভরশীল। বাকি ৪০ ভাগ পরিবেশ, পুষ্টিকর খাদ্য ও মস্তিষ্কের চর্চার ওপর নির্ভর করে। গবেষকদের মতে, কোনো শিশু কম বুদ্ধি বা কম স্মরণশক্তিসম্পন্ন জিন বহন করলেও ভালো পরিবেশের কল্যাণে ভালো বুদ্ধিমত্তার পরিচয় দিতে পারে। স্মরণশক্তি বৃদ্ধি করার কিছু কৌশলঃ

১। কচি বেলপাতা খাঁটি ঘিয়ে ভেজে খেলে স্মরণশক্তি বৃদ্ধি পায়। আবার ব্রাহ্মী শাক এমন একটি ভেষজ উপাদান, যা স্মরণশক্তি বৃদ্ধির নানা ওষুধ তৈরিতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। মস্তিষ্ককে সজীব করার একটি আয়ুর্বেদিক উপায় হলো – দশটি কাঠ বাদাম, দুটি ছোট সাদা এলাচ, দুটি শুকনা খেজুর একটি মাটির পাত্রে আগের দিন পানিতে ভিজিয়ে রাখুন। পরের দিন সকলে বাদামের খোসা ছাড়িয়ে, এলাচের দানা বের করে, শুকনো খেজুরের বিচি বের করে এক সাথে ৩০ গ্রাম চিনির সাথে মিহি করে বেটে নিতে হবে। এই মিশ্রণ ২৫ গ্রাম মাখনের সাথে মিশিয়ে প্রতিদিন খেলে মস্তিষ্ক সজীব থাকে এবং স্মরণশক্তি বৃদ্ধি পায়।

২। একটা চমৎকার ঘুম আপনার মস্তিষ্ককে অধিক কার্যকরী করে তোলে। ঘুমের সময় সাম্প্রতিক সময়ের তথ্যগুলোকে মস্তিষ্কসংরক্ষণ করতে থাকে। আর ঘুমকে বলা হয় মেমোরি চার্জার। ঘুমের সময় আপনার মেমোরি পরবর্তী স্মৃতি ধরার জন্য প্রস্তুত হয়। তাই নিয়মিত পর্যাপ্ত ঘুমের মাধ্যমে স্মৃতিশক্তি বাড়াতে পারেন।

৩। পুষ্টিকর খাবার স্মরণশক্তি বৃদ্ধিতে অনেকাংশে সাহায্য করে। মাতৃগর্ভে থাকার সময় শিশুর মস্তিষ্ক গঠনে বিশেষ কিছু উপাদানের প্রয়োজন হয়। গর্ভবতী মা যদি পুষ্টিকর খাবার খান তাহলে মস্তিষ্ক যথাযথভাবে গঠিত হয়। আমিষ ও স্নেহজাতীয় খাবার এ ব্যাপারে সাহায্য করে। সয়াবিন, দুধ, যকৃত, বাদাম, মাখন ইত্যাদিতে রয়েছে বিশেষ উপাদান কোলিন। সাইনাপসে তথ্য আদান -প্রদানের অন্যতম মাধ্যম হচ্ছে কোলিন। খাবার থেকে এই উপাদান পাওয়া যায় বলে স্মরণশক্তি বৃদ্ধিতে পুষ্টিকর খাবারের যথেষ্ট অবদান রয়েছে।

৪। কোনো বিষয় মনোযোগ দিয়ে শিখলে বিষয়টি মনে রাখা সহজ হয়। তাই কোনো পড়া বা কাজ শেখার সময় যথেষ্ট পরিমাণে মনোযোগ দিন। মনোযোগ একটি মানসিক প্রক্রিয়া। তাই এর চর্চা করলে সহজেই স্মরণশক্তি বৃদ্ধি করা সম্ভব।

৫। মস্তিষ্কে চাপ প্রয়োগ করে বা জোর করে মনে করার চেষ্টা করার পরও যদি কিছু মনে না পড়ে তাহলে মস্তিষ্ককে কিছুক্ষণ বিশ্রাম দিন। অন্য কিছু ভাবুন বা ওই প্রসঙ্গ থেকে একেবারেই সরে আসুন। এতে কিছুক্ষণ পর প্রয়োজনীয় বিষয়টি নিজে থেকেই মনে পড়ে যাবে। কোনো কিছু স্মরণ করার জন্য এ পদ্ধতিটি বেশ কার্যকর।

৬। রাগ, ক্ষোভ বা উদ্বেগ আপনার ব্রেনকে কিছু সময়ের জন্য স্থবির করে দেয়, যা আপনার স্মরণশক্তি কমে যাওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে যথেষ্ট প্রভাব ফেলতে পারে। মানসিক চাপের মধ্যে বিষন্নতা সবচেয়ে মস্তিষ্কের ক্ষতি করে। বিষণ্নতা আপনার মনোযোগ দেয়ার ক্ষমতা ক্ষমিয়ে ফেলে এবং রক্তে করটিসলের লেভেল বাড়িয়ে দেয়। করটিসেলের লেভেল বেড়ে গেলে মস্তিষ্কের কার্যকারিতা কমে যায়, বিশেষ করে হিপ্পোক্যাম্পাসের। যেখানে শর্টটার্ম মেমোরি সংরক্ষিত থাকে। তাই বিষণ্নতা সহ সকল মানসিক চাপ যতদূর সম্ভব কমিয়ে ফেলুন।

৭। ব্যায়াম শুধু আপনার শরীরকেই সচল করে না, এটি আপনার মস্তিষ্ককেও সচল রাখে। স্থূলতা এবং অতিরিক্ত ওজন আপনার ব্রেইনের জন্যও ক্ষতিকর। তাই নিয়মিত ব্যায়াম না করলে কিংবা শরীরের অঙ্গপ্রত্যঙ্গগুলো সচল না থাকলে রক্তবাহী নালীগুলো চর্বি জমে। ফলে স্বাভাবিক রক্তচলাচল ব্যহত হয়। মস্তিষ্কে রক্তের মাধ্যমে অক্সিজেন সরবারাহ বাধাপ্রাপ্ত হয়। যার কারণে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হতে পারে মস্তিষ্কের কোষগুলোও। তাই নিয়মিত ব্যায়াম করুন, সচল রাখুন আপনার শরীরের অঙ্গ-প্রত্যঙ্গগুলো।

৮। কোনো কিছু শেখার সময় বিষয়টি অন্যের কাছ থেকে শুনলে মনে রাখা সহজ হয়। এ কারণেই ক্লাসে শিক্ষকের লেকচার শুনলে বিষয়টি সহজেই আত্মস্থ করা যায় এবং মনে রাখা যায়। তাই কোনো কিছু পড়ার সময় জোরে জোরে কয়েকবার পড়ুন, এতে মনে রাখা সহজ হবে। পড়ার পর তা লিখলে আমাদের মস্তিষ্ক তার একটি ছবি তৈরি করে ফেলে। ফলে বিষয়টি তুলনামূলক সহজে মনে পড়ে। তাই কোনো কিছু পড়ার পর তা লেখার অভ্যাস করুন। 

৯। গবেষকরা দেখিয়েছেন কিছু সংগীত স্মৃতিশক্তি বাড়াতে উপকারি। ব্যাপারটা এই রকম: কোন ঘটনার সময় আপনি যদি কোন গান শুনেন তবে পুনরায় সেই গান শোনার সময় সেই ঘটনার আবহের স্মৃতি আপনার মস্তিষ্কে জেগে উঠবে।

১০। নিজে যা শিখতে চাচ্ছেন। তা একবার শিখে নিয়ে অন্যকে শেখান। আরজনকে শেখাতে গিয়ে দেখবেন আপনার জানার ঘাটতিগুলো ধরতে পারছেন। আবার চর্চাও হবে আরেক জনকে শেখানোর মাধ্যমে। নতুন কিছু বিষয়ে আপনার কোন চিন্তা আরেকজনের সাথে শেয়ারও করতে পারেন। তাহলে আপনার স্মৃতিতে তা স্থায়ী হবে। লোকটাকে দেখা মাত্রই বিষয়টি আপনার স্মৃতিতে আসবে। চর্চা আর প্রচেষ্টার মাধ্যমে সব কিছু অর্জন সম্ভব। একটু চেষ্টা করলেই বাড়িয়ে নিতে পারেন স্মৃতিশক্তি, মনে রাখার ক্ষমতা।
